Cop posts taunting comment about black woman walking home in cold weather

Gary Steele from the Detroit Police Department posted the footage on Tuesday
He uses condescending remarks as he films Ariel Moore, 23, walking in the cold
The Snapchat video was posted with headline: 'What black girl magic looks like
'Temperatures in Detroit plunged to -18F on Tuesday evening

Detroit Chief of Police James Craig admitted it was a 'racially insensitive post'

He reassigned Steele so that he is no longer in the field and is continuing to investigate to determine if he should lose his job

The cop offered the woman a ride but she refused and walked the block home

The   In 2008, Steele was arrested after firing a gun at his girlfriend during a domestic attack

made her leave her car and walk home in below freezing weather.

Craig said the stop and the tow were both lawful, but the Snapchat video was where the encounter "went bad." The video shows the woman walking away in sub-freezing temperatures -- Detroit's low was 2 degrees Tuesday -- with the captions, "Celebrating Black History Month" and "What black girl magic looks like."

The officers can be heard commenting back and forth, "Priceless," "Walk of shame," "In the cold," and "Bye, Felicia.

(Police Chief) Craig also referred to the officer's "troubling history." WXYZ reports the officer was charged in 2008 with physically attacking his ex-girlfriend in Canton and firing a gun near her head. He reportedly took a plea deal on a misdemeanor, received probation and was allowed to stay on the force.

The extra racial shit is just icing on the cake. Anyone who would pull someone over for a fucking expired tag and then make them walk home in -18 weather does not need to be working with the public. He's obviously a sociopath.

Thank goodness she didn’t get in the car with him.

He needs to be fired, at a minimum.

Not just pulling his gun on his girlfriend, but firing his gun at her. Attempted murder? Hmmmm, methinks they were WAY too lenient on him.

There is ZERO excuse for pulling someone over for an expired tag in -18 degree weather. Even less for impounding her vehicle on that basis. That lapse in judgment, alone, should have led to immediate termination.'

To top it off with this racist crap? How is he still working there?
