Carefully worded statement of Roger Stone could mean that he's willing to flip on Trump.

https://www.dcreport.org/2019/01/28/roger-stone-will-save-himself-with-trump-or-without-him/

Until Friday Stone had said again and again that he would never testify against Trump.

Indeed, Trump tweeted just that on Dec. 3, 2018, quoting Stone: “I will never testify against Trump.”

But when Stone walked out of the Florida courthouse Friday, released on $250,000 bond, Stone spoke in nuanced terms.

The television networks, the big newspapers and every other news report we’ve seen or heard reported that Stone said he would never testify against Trump. But like a politician whose stump speech never varies until the pol wants to signal a change in position, Stone didn’t speak in such unqualified terms on Friday.

Here are Stone’s precisely calibrated words:

“There is no circumstance whatsoever under which I will bear false witness against the president, nor will I make up lies to ease the pressure on myself.”

...

Also, notice the conditional “if” that Stone used in his comments on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, two days after he was arrested.

“If there’s wrongdoing by other people in the campaign that I didn’t know about—which I know of none—but if there is, I would certainly testify honestly.”

That journalist is right. There is a difference between "I won't testify against Trump" and "I won't lie about Trump". And Stone is a professional propagandist. He knows exactly how to use words.

Do we really think that a flamboyant, spoiled man such as Roger Stone is willing to go to jail to protect Trump?
Donald Trump, who feels no loyalty towards anyone? Not his campaign-aides, not his lawyer and not even his wife?

My guess is, Stone is waiting for who can offer him a better deal that would keep him out of jail: Trump pardoning him or Mueller flipping him.

that he has ten to fifteen quality years left before old age and general failures of functioning begin to impinge permanently on his quality of life. He’ll get no reprieve, no second chances. He’s running out of time. He can sit in a federal pen and muse about the quality of the mashed potatoes he just finished, or he can downsize from his lavish lifestyle after incurring massive penalties stemming from decades of criminal conduct and sip from a cocktail glass in the Florida sunshine. It’s a fairly simple choice.

Roger will take the path of least resistance and flip on Trumpy. Like all of us, he won’t live forever. So why would he make his life more difficult?

I want him in prison for his multiple crimes against our country. He needs to be locked away where he can't harm us anymore.

They said Roger's long history of lies and crimes renders him useless for such a purpose. I tend to agree.

He's another pathological liar that no jury would give any weight to. Let him die in prison.

And what they found durung the arrest, I doubt Mueller would even need his testimony. I think Stone is posturing for a bargin knowing that Team Mueller has him nailed.
