I was bracing myself for nausea when I saw "tweet" and "newly elected congresswoman" in the same sentence.

It was a relief to see a normal, non-confrontational and not "look at me, I'm a celebrity" tweet from Jahana Hayes and not the alternative.

I remember her getting elected to the state leg when I was still in high school, well over 20 years ago.

....the first time I noticed her was about five years later when I was unemployed and was working on a complaint with the CHRO. Back then the Legislature was trying to disband it, but she was a big advocate for the Commission, the first of it's kind in the US. It was salvaged (and is still in "business" ), and I've appreciated her ever since. Coincidentally she lived right near my first Connecticut home.

I've met her dozens of times over the years in working with our local and state Democratic Parties. A very nice woman.
