Al Roker just called the Gov. of KY a "nitwit"

The Gov. of KY put out a statement criticizing the cancelling of school today and opining that "kids are getting too soft."

Roker tore him a new one, practically yelling of the dangers of frostbite and that we are taking about children. He ended by saying "I'm glad you're not a teacher."

Love Al.

The bigger question is why do some of these republicans in office always find a new way to act like jerks.

When I was a kid, the Blizzard of '77 kept us out of school for nearly a week. That was 42 years and two generations ago.

for basically a week. In anticipation of losing power, our family drove to my grandparent's house in the next town because they had a usable fireplace and the home we lived in at the time did not.

Thursday and Friday, the actual days that the storm hit, and the entire next week, due to the clean-up required.

Winters there were brutal. I was later stationed there myself when I was in the Army. The winters are freezing, but dry. With a strong enough wind, one can walk down the street, and the skin on their entire body will be chapped dry by the time you get to the other end.

Bevin is a fool we need to be rid of. Imagine a school bus loaded with kids, breaking down on one of Kentucky's bad rural roads. (A breakdown is likely in extreme cold because Bevin and the Repugs have taken money from schools). How long will that bus stay warm inside in this weather?

We need Bevin out. Election is this fall.

Beshear the Younger?

Who'll take Mitch on next year?

From this distant perch (WA), I don't have the impression that Kentucky Dems have a deep bench.

There are others running, but I think Beshear has the best chance.

At least one Repug dropped out when Bevin said he was running. The others are just as bad as Bevin.

The following lists the candidates and some polling:

Poll shows Beshear leading Bevin in that theoretical matchup.
Primaries are in May.

He's not afraid to point out when weather events are cause by climate change, either.

As to your question, they act like jerks because they ARE jerks. And, that's putting it quite politely.
