deal with the EU, and they want May to go back to the EU and renegotiate a new deal.
At the same time the EU has made it clear they do NOT want to renegotiate.
As I see it, there is only one solution to their problem:

(131,129 posts)LONDON British Prime Minister Theresa May survived a critical vote in Parliament on Tuesday that could have delayed Brexit, undermining her strategy for leaving the European Union and undercutting the countrys constitutional protocol.
Mrs. Mays latest political escape came when lawmakers failed, by a 321 to 298 vote, to approve an amendment giving Parliament the power to instruct her to seek a delay to avoid a disorderly, and possibly chaotic, exit that Britain faces on March 29 if there is no agreement.
The stakes were high not just for the Brexit process but for the future of Britains democracy under its unwritten constitution, under which the government initiates legislation and Parliament amends it and votes on it.'>>>

(10,749 posts)Putin is having great fun as he watches England's chaos and utter humiliation. Cameron might have had good intentions, but the Russians capitalized and influenced the vote. Britain - the country, its people, its business - has no fucking clue what's going to happen. People are talking about hoarding food. Businesses are moving their headquarters. Businesses large and small have little idea how it will affect their supply chain. Nothing may happen. Tariffs may price British products out of their markets. The reality, as here in the US, is uncertainty and chaos.
Well played, Russia. Talk about playing a long game.

I try not to comment too often on international politics, but ...

(4,138 posts)Pretty much every path over the next two months is bound to draw a ton of anger and blame. Nobody wants to be holding the potato at the end of March.
Also, while May seems fairly inept, I doubt the ghost of Disraeli could salvage that mess. The pro-Brexit crowd was sold a chimera and are holding out for a deal with the EU that is just not on the table, probably not even in the same room.
