She's BIGGER than you, donald. And now EVERYBODY knows it. Hopefully, the jerks on the House of Reps who only yowled for change for the mere sake of "change." I hope they've finally seen the error of their ways and how just plain shitty and stupid their "thinking" was.

He sees women as toys, to be shown off, manipulated, used, grabbed, fucked, and thrown away.

He has never faced as capable an opponent as Nancy Pelosi. He has no idea whatsoever how to deal with her. He thought she’d get rolled like all the rest of ‘em have. He assumed he could bully her and she’d cave. He couldn’t be more wrong. She’s not like ANY opponent he’s ever gone up against. She’s not afraid of him. And she has no reason to be. She owns his ass. I think it was Neera Tanden tonight who called her President Pelosi, the one who’s REALLY running things.

On edit - I looked back over a photo I took of the TV because I didn't have a notebook handy. It was yesterday evening when Neera Tanden was one of the talking heads. But it was a graphic of a Politico article whose headline was: 'All for nothing': Trump's wall retreat bewilders allies when an excerpt from the article was highlighted: "President Nancy Pelosi, she runs the country now."

And to that I can only say "ABSO-FREAKIN'-LUTELY!" Immediately followed by "IF ONLY!!!" (I'm with Her!)

My favorite meme, which I saw here on DU though unfortunately I can't give attribution, read something like: He (Trump) doesn't know he's talking to Nancy D'Alessandro from Baltimore, he thinks he's talking to some wine country tofu eater! As a native Marylander, I must say I loved that and love Nancy a whole lot. I gained even more respect for the greatest House Speaker ever!

Republicans went to such lengths to demonize Nancy Pelosi during the 2018 midterms. Yes, it was partly her gender but more than that:

They Knew What She Could Do

Because they'd watched her in action before. All those arguments about 'fresh faces and new blood' should fall away because when you're fighting for national survival you want the best general on the field, not a novice.

Nancy Pelosi has proven her mettle, once again.

I'll have to confess, although I was all for Ms. Pelosi becoming Speaker of the House once again I didn't think it would make that much difference if someone else had gotten the gavel.

Was I ever thankfully wrong! Talk about an iron fist in a velvet glove. She was perfect. Trump got nothing. Not so much as a fig leaf.

She kicked his flabby ass, didn't break a sweat, and looked like a million bucks doing it.

131. Best combination would be Nancy making decisions but an innocuous male fronted as our leader
Sat Jan 26, 2019, 04:18 PM
Jan 2019

That was my position leading to November and I'm not backing down from it. Only fools ping pong their opinions based on recent results. That has no foundational backbone whatsoever. It is the same reason I want a charismatic nominee while trying to oust an incumbent, and am worried that Kamala Harris does not qualify. Of course, if Trump remains at this approval rating it won't matter if Harris qualifies, but that ongoing 37% approval is not likely.

I am convinced we lose seats with Pelosi as House speaker. I saw all the Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis ads here in Florida, using Pelosi to motivate Republicans. Consequently we lost two of the most important races in the country by razor margin, with an incredibly energized Republican turnout that reached 36% of the electorate aged 65+ compared to 25% in that category in 2014.

It is remarkably foolish to look at what Pelosi is doing now without understanding the net seats we may be losing with a powerful female and such a well known polarizing figure atop our party. Misogyny is very real, and actually under reported. Just because we won 40ish seats doesn't mean it couldn't have been 45+. We never fully maximize those avalanche midterms, like the GOP did in 1994 and 2010 and 2014.

I want both...a leader who blends and doesn't cost us seats in November, but also can make decisions like Nancy Pelosi is capable of. That is the type of person we should be trying to identify among our ranks. Obviously it is not possible at this stage to demote Pelosi leading to November but then allow her to make all the calls come January. It was wishful thinking on my part but I am always trying to maximize on situational terms.
