Cargo flies overnight

If LGA isn't open in time for FedEx's and UPS's planes to land there, we're no longer talking about 0.13% per week GDP hit, we're talking about a massive and abrupt contraction. Particularly if BWI and PHL have to close today too.

Three days of reduced cargo transit on the East Coast and we're in a recession. Five and we start running out of food.

LGA was never completely closed. What ATC did was stop allowing departures and arrivals temporarily because they were understaffed. No airport is going to close completely but we can expect more and more of these ground stops if the shutdown continues. I'm surprised ATL hasn't done it yet.
