But he'll be a mover and shaker long before that.

March For Our Lives co-founder Cameron Kasky may be a major political influencer as well. Though, he is a little more centrist than Hogg.

Either way, thank goodness for these kids and their passion.

Speaking of brilliant young candidates. Why didn't Jon Ossoff run for anything in 2018?

I've seen it used in reference to how Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez brutally and succinctly puts a critic in place, completely shutting down the attacker.

Could somebody please post that here? That word now belongs to David Hogg.

As in this headline from Huffington Post:

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Claps Back At U of T Student Harry Khachatrian With Income Inequality Tweet, and the lede sentence,

If you step up to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on social media, you better come prepared for an epic clapback.

Sure would like to see actual pieces of journalism, with depth and relevance to current events be what is upvoted into the front page's "Trending Now".

Lately is seems like it is mostly a "who just burned who on Twitter" list.

schadenfreude. It is sometimes a much needed celebratory feeling of the discomfort of people who are cruel and abusive to others, when they, in turn, have karmic adjustments come due.

You aren’t going to change that, nor should you try. But you will always have the choice over your own actions.

I am 100% for what David Hogg said. One-hundred.

What I was commenting on was DU'ers tendency to upvote "zings" rather than actual pieces of journalism.

Journalism has its rightful place. Zings too have their rightful places.

I'd consider myself less than sharp if I complained classic movies are rarely shown on the cartoon network.

in depth review. You will not get that on Twitter and social media in general. Real journalism and investigative reporting often involves being a supporter. I contribute to Mother Jones, The Guardian, Emptywheel, etc. because i appreciate their adherence to journalistic standards. Try some of those sources, maybe?

My point was, DU'ers tend to upvote the zingy bon mots over the news articles. My commentary was strictly observing a DU phenomenon. Not a commentary on Twitter itself, nor David Hogg, whom I support completely.
