Sen. Joni Ernst says husband physically attacked her after confrontation over his relationship with

babysitter

DES MOINES, Iowa – Years before her divorce, Sen. Joni Ernst was assaulted by her husband after she confronted him about his relationship with their daughter's babysitter, she wrote in court filings.

Ernst, a Republican who represents Iowa in the U.S. Senate, said that during her 26-year marriage with Gail Ernst, she was the victim of verbal and mental abuse and a physical assault after which a victim's advocate wanted to take her to a hospital, she wrote in public records connected to their divorce.

"Gail has been very cruel," she wrote. "This has been an extremely painful journey."

In August, Ernst announced that she and Gail Ernst were divorcing. The divorce was finalized this month.

Trying to keep up with McCain. Sounds almost as disfunctionial as the Palin clan.

Still they do know what an ideal family should be, and they are going to do everything in their power to deny others anything that doesn't meet their perception of an ideal family.

I also think it would have been a good idea to keep the divorce records sealed. They depicted ugliness on both sides.

I'm going through a divorce right now, and while it's mostly civil at this point, I am pretty peeved that my husband decided to share intimate details about our marriage with mutual friends.

Yet her legislative record on the subject is terrible. Help people like yourself.

However, a victim given the opportunity to assist other victims but refuses to do so based entirely on political considerations becomes in fact, just a member of one political party... by her own choice.
