CNN host Chris Cuomo suggested Kamala Harris should prove she was born in the US ...

Here-we-go-againism.

CNN host Chris Cuomo suggested Kamala Harris should prove she was born in the US and the internet swiftly rebuked him
Mariana Alfaro

CNN host Chris Cuomo jumped into a Twitter debate Tuesday on whether Sen. Kamala Harris of California, who was born in Oakland, California, is constitutionally eligible for the White House because her parents are immigrants.

In a tweet, Cuomo suggested that Harris should "deal with the allegation" to avoid trouble later down the campaign road. His audience quickly hit back, saying it was an example of "birtherism."

The phrase was used when former President Barack Obama was in office, during which time President Donald Trump publicly questioned whether Obama was born in the US.

Cuomo removed his tweet and apologized, saying Harris "has no duty to justify any such accusation."

that that her parents weren't born here. Or legally here. Or something.

That doesn't need to be addressed since it is so obviously ignorant. If anything, she was an anchor baby, which is insulting enough, but she is still natural born US citizen.

I suspect Cuomo was just suggesting she deal with it now, rather than later. No big deal.

and racists.

Setting up the argument that my criticism is equivalent to Trump's assertion of fake news is BS. Cumo is NOT reporting news, he is giving an opinion.

It wasn't that long ago that CNN had a segment asking the question "are Jews human?"

these views. They were not DISCUSSING if Jews are human. Your post is very misleading to say the least.

And yeah it's Cumo's opinion....just his opinion...so then why the uproar? It's pretty obvious Cuomo goes out of his way to appear centrist because of his family. He's a flaming lib through and through.

As far as Cumo’s ideology that is irrelevant to my view

It is like his of McCarthy type implications

We just disagree

But makes up a fake rule that your parents have to be in the US five years before you were born.

That is what has to be proven to be the law. And it can't be, because it is not.

to force through.

This is just laying the groundwork for it. If they can get a substantial portion of the public to think that's already the case, it's much easier to change the law/Constitution to make it so. And Cuomo is helping them - it's probably unwitting on his part, but nevertheless just as dangerous and irresponsible.

They found writings of Vattel from the 18th century, saying natural citizenship meant your parents were also born in the country. Therefore, it was said, the Founders understood "natural" to mean that. Thus it followed that while Obama was born in the U.S. and was a U.S. citizen, he was not "natural born" for purposes of the Presidency. This was because his father was not a U.S. citizen.

Hilariously, Dotard's mother being born in another country has silenced them on this theory.

15. The worst part of this is that Cuomo was responding to a tweet by that idiot Jacob Wohl.
Wed Jan 23, 2019, 10:34 AM
Jan 2019

Wohl is that right wing kid who was barred from trading when he was a teenager for fraudulent activity, then he started the bullshit story that Mueller was accused of sexual harassment. He even held a stupid 'press conference' about the Mueller allegation. The woman who was supposed to be the accuser didn't even show up.

Now Jacob Wohl is suggesting that Kamala Harris can't run for president because her parents weren't born in the US? Jeez, give that moron a history book!

Why the hell would Cuomo give that dipshit any kind of response? I liked Cuomo when he hosted New Day.

I think Cuomo is so desperate to compete with Rachel Maddow that he will bring up any bullshit story and invite any jackass (Kellyanne Conway, the Mooch) onto his show to amplify his ratings.

that the same people wagging their fingers at the first chapter of birtherism are now ALREADY falling for this fucking garbage again. And worse, and of course, it centers on another highly-qualified brown person.

For fucking once, I'd like someone, ANYONE to put as much 'balance' into covering the scum that make up this horrible stuff about brown people they're terrified of as they do 'dealing with the allegation.'

If I ran around talking about how Dump molests goats in his spare time, would that get any air time? Of course not. But this does, because 'objectivity and balance' or some such horseshit.

We've learned nothing, we've advanced nowhere, and media will still chase the almighty buck over the truth. That's what makes me sad.

that why didn't they need documentation of McCain's citizenship? He was born in the Canal Zone and so his birth certificate and one of his parents' would be necessary to establish it. No answers.

Here again, we notice not a bit of curiosity over the birthplaces of any white candidate. But have a brown one and now there's a birther conspiracy.
