Will large number of Democratic candidates unite or divide the Party?

We want to think that after all the primaries are over, we will all come together to defeat Darth Vader and the Evil Empire, but will we?

If he is not the nominee, who will Bernie Sanders voters get behind?

If Beto is not the nominee, who will his supporters get behind?

Already, we can see folks taking sides.

I think the best thing that can happen is if most of the candidates get out of the race after 3 or 4 primaries, if they are not getting any traction with the voters. I don't think it will be beneficial to the Party to just hang on, without a chance of winning. Just my opinion.

With so many people running, the one that can garner 25% or more will probably be the front-runner?

It will work itself out. As to the 2016 comment, I find it far less than helpful.

Graciously conceeding, when eliminated, and then actively supporting the nominee can bring factions together.

Continuing a dead-end campaign, after being eliminated, and being luke-warm about supporting the nominee can be divisive.

Hopefully 2020 candidates do the former, not the latter.

If she drops out and endorses and campaigns for the winner of the Primaries, that is how to do it. And, she will do it. Dragging it out, being sullen or snarky, not encouraging supporters to back the winner -- that is not how to do it.

I think diversity in Primaries is great! And, you point is 100% spot on.

in the general election are worthless immature parasites, and we need to focus on those who will rally behind the Democratic nominee by getting out the vote.

47% of the voting populous didn't vote in the last election. That is where the focus needs to be.

An equally important step that MUST be taken is to insure that there IS NO illegal interference in our election process. Unless the integrity of the election can be assured, all bets are off

If too many of us refuse to accept the good in search of the (perceived) perfect, it is our fault if it all breaks down.

... it has gotten worse in recent years. The question is will we learn from 2016 that simply moving in the progressive direction is the overall goal. Any democrat is better than what we have now. That has never been more true.

Sid nailed it above. Unity starts with our candidates. THEY have to set the tone and the direction of the party. If they pull together, so will their factions. If they pull in different directions, we get Trump.
