Fox News' Shepard Smith: 'For Fact's Sake, The President Shut Down the Government'

John Roberts reported on the latest in the back-and-forth between the White House and Democrats after the deal proposed by POTUS over the weekend. White House official Mercedes Schlapp said Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is the one “playing politics with the lives of our federal workers.”
Roberts noted that Democrats want the government opened first before taking up border security, but the White House is concerned that if they do, “the Democrats would suddenly say, ‘Border security? What border security?'”
After Roberts’ report, Smith said, “For facts’ sake, the President shut down the government. He told the Democrats in the Oval Office that he would carry the mantle for it, that he would be proud to do it, and that he wouldn’t blame the Democrats for it.”
