New videos show moments before students' confrontation with Omaha Tribe's Nathan Phillips

An Omaha Tribe member was put in the national spotlight as video went viral of his encounter with a group of students in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

The Native American man, identified as Nathan Phillips, drummed on while some of the boys yelled around him. Phillips is originally from Nebraska and an elder in the Omaha Tribe.

On Monday, the teen at the center of the controversy said he did nothing to provoke the man in the videotaped confrontation and was only trying to calm the situation.
