"SNIP....
Washington: Nancy Pelosi is winning her showdown with President Donald Trump for one simple reason: She knows how to do her job better than he knows how to do his.
The House speaker is fond of three precepts; spend time with her and you'll hear them all. One is from Abraham Lincoln: "Public sentiment is everything. With it, nothing can fail; against it, nothing can succeed."
The second is from her father, an old-school Democratic mayor of Baltimore: "Votes are the coin of the realm." The third is her own: Never underestimate Nancy Pelosi.
In this battle, she's winning - and Trump's losing - on all three counts.

(38,427 posts)any job, has been through more, has seen more, knows more about the federal government in the finger nail of her little finger than Trump knows in his entire brain.. She is also more dedicated to her job than Trump can imagine..
...............These are your words, "Never underestimate Nancy Pelosi. "...

(42,334 posts)This whole "I want a businessman" nonsense is just that - nonsense. They have no clue how to govern in a democracy.

(5,397 posts)counts for a lot. And a failed megalomaniac businessman makes a terrible politician. Who would have thought?
ANY politician with a clear mind and determination, and a willingness to do well for the citizens of the country, and not give a stuff about Trump's self declared 'genius', would stomp him into the ground any day.
There are other well meaning and strong willed politicians on both sides of the fence. Time for them to stop hiding and be more like Nancy.

(7,814 posts)I wish there would be less horserace/drama reporting and more about the wisdom or lack thereof re a wall.
Sometimes...sometimes...someone calls the wall a vanity project, or monument to ego, or similar. But media holds back because they like the head to head battle. Media could end this by real analysis and reporting, but they won't.
Same reason Giuliani was on MTP this morning (which pissed me off)...wasn't for clarity or explanation or analysis. Was for drama and weird faces.

(6,831 posts)that businessmen and CEOs know better how to run the country than the politicians.
And we also need to shelf the "Anybody can grow up to be president" thing, too. Not everybody is presidential material.
