General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHow about a thread that isn't about Todd Akin. Do we have any polls
regarding the GOP's lies about Obama cutting Medicare by $716 billion? Is the claim gaining any
traction especially with seniors? Romney and Ryan seem to think they can win that argument, just how
is it going for them? That issue really has me worried, some retirees I know are falling for it.
I have also heard some saying that the GOP plan won't affect anyone 55 or older, it is working on some.
The Rethugs are masters at appealing to people's greed and prejudices, is that going to work this time?

If you are 55 you might have children in their 20's and you would be right to worry that they might have problems down the road if Medicare is eliminated. Or perhaps a 65 year old is going to worry about their 45 year old child that they know are developing problems that can't be treated now. But, will be (when much worse at around age 65. But, who knows I can't count on them caring about their children.

(35,389 posts)Congressman has been hitting on the Obama Medicare cuts for the last two years. You know if you tell a lie enough times people start believing it. They have been claiming Obama took the money from medicare to fund Obamacare and you know how they have demonized Obamacare.

(14,177 posts)I don't have to deal with a lot of Republicans. Bachmann is somewhere north of here, she is an embarrassment to the state, but for the most part a non issue to people outside her district. Anyway, I still think it will be a net loss for the GOP in general. Perhaps certain districts will be still pull for the GOP, but over all it will hurt them.
