Once Trump is out Pence becomes president and then it will be nearly impossible to remove him.
They aren't going to go through the whole impeachment thing again for a smaller infraction right after removing Trump.

I’d rather see trump to continue destroy himself and the entire gop all the way to 2020 even if it’s painful. Pence could be even bigger risk and we certainly dont want to energize christofascist movement which, if anything, trump helps to delegitimize.

So probably yes. Will note Pence is a Trumplican. Very possible he’s compromised as well, after all he is a Manafort hire.

I'm putting 2/1 against Trump going down prior to 2020, but if he does and Pence steps up, the negative branding would simply be too much for the Republic party to deal with, and a large moderate block will then nominate a lightweight that looks good on television (e.g, a Dan Quayle-type).

I'd guess that they realize the 2020 presidential election is (all things being equal) simply out of their reach at this point, and a PR campaign to rehabilitate the party will be underway beginning a year from now, and that rehab requires an individual that doesn't have any really close ties to Trump.

I could imagine “Father” Pence being primaried by a Trumpublican, the principal suspects being Ted Cruz and Lindsay Graham.

But I can also imagine Mitt Romney deciding that his hour has finally come, 12 years after he lost to President Obama, that it’s time to try again., and that he’ll challenge “Father” from another direction.

them sufficiently. He'll have a lame duck 2 years before we elect a dem. And at that point, we might even get the senate....

Elephants that conceive now will be giving birth around election time. There's a joke there somewhere, but I'm too worn out to find it.

Impeachment and removal from office would take several months. It would likely take until late summer for Pence to have a chance to gain office. If Pence can be removed first, the House could refuse to confirm a replacement, ala McConnell rule.
