RBG has cancelled two appearances and people are alarmed.

I have worried about her health for years, but THIS does NOT worry me. She just had part of her lung removed on December 21 -- less than a month ago -- and is still recovering. Of course they don't want her on a plane!

The risk of blood clots is always elevated with plane flights (one of her cancelled trips was to LA) and the risk is INCREASED after surgery. I'd be happy if I heard she wasn't planning any flights in the foreseeable future. It wouldn't make me worry about her health; it would make me think she was protecting her health.

Of course, I know nothing about her individual situation. I'm just pointing out, for fellow worriers out there, that there could be a perfectly rational reason for her cancelling the appearances that would NOT mean she is sicker than they're admitting.

I won't worry, especially after learning what we did about the normal treatment of those undergoing such surgery: Recovery takes months, and standard that she'd plan to work during the process, NOT to travel across the country.

5. I couldn't fly for 6 weeks after a simpler lung surgery

My lung surgery was on the pleura, and I wasn't allowed to fly for 6 weeks. Her surgery was much more serious than that, so I'm not at all surprised she's not allowed to fly yet.

I'm glad she's not rushing back. That's not healthy to do, her strength will take some time to return to normal.
