Short version. Our local news station posted an article about Trump denying Pelosi's trip. Yes, I made a comment, and because I live in Kansas and we haven't outlawed stupid people I was inundated with comments along the lines of:
"Maybe she should fly her broom there."
"She needs to stay home and end the shutdown."
"What do you have against the wall?"
"Do you want illegal immigrants overrunning this country, attacking women and filling our children with drugs?"
"Trump started the shutdown, but Dems won't end it."
Granted, there were a few enlightened souls who liked my comment and agreed with my stance. Still, it saddens me (doesn't shock me anymore) that so many in this country still think Trump is doing a good job, all of his actions are justified, and that a woman has no place being Speaker of the House.
I am going to go eat some chocolate and sign the Sharice Davids petition I just got in my email. Thank God she is my representative.

It is incredible how much BS is out there.

(1,040 posts)... that when I respond to them with facts (carefully researched so I'm not spreading misinformation), they immediately revert to name-calling and attacking. It's their go to, and I'm used to it (laughing out loud most of the time). I don't necessarily feel 'stupid' for what I did; I feel 'stupid' because I expected a different response. That's probably what gets me most ... with all that has come out about Trump and what lies just around the corner, you would think even his most rabid devotees would start to think, "hey, maybe he's not who I thought he was." But no, they are blind, and no amount of discussion will change their minds.
Still, I persist. Why? Because I cannot stand by and let people tell lies.

(5,315 posts)get an account at GAB and troll those idiot racists once in a while. It's an education in itself reading what they write to really get a better understanding of the mindset we're up against. I used to troll the nuts on Breitbart but they've banned my IP address so I can only harass them when I'm using different internet service like in airports or visiting friends.
