Dems want some of Twitter power ⁦AOC⁩ has

Eliza Collins @elizacollins1
Bit of news: Democrats want some of Twitter power ⁦@AOC⁩ has. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and ⁦@jahimes⁩ will give Democrats a Twitter briefing tomorrow.

USAToday:

The House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee is hosting a session Thursday morning with Ocasio-Cortez of New York (@AOC – 2.42 million followers) and Rep. Jim Himes of Connecticut (@jahimes – 76,500 followers) "on the most effective ways to engage constituents on Twitter and the importance of digital storytelling."

The lesson comes as a generational divide between members of Congress and the tech platforms they oversee has been on full display.

The decision to invite Ocasio-Cortez, a House freshman, to share her expertise signals the Democratic party's attempt to bring in fresh voices – even when those voices don't always agree with leadership.

At 29, Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest member of Congress and has become something of a sensation with both sides of the aisle for her progressive views and use of social media to share opinions and policy positions. She's attracted millions of followers, far more than the average lawmaker. Ocasio-Cortez's office declined to comment for this story, but late Wednesday she retweeted a USA TODAY reporter and confirmed she would be teaching the class. She said it was one of the “perks of being in the Democratic Caucus.”

Perks of being in the Democratic Caucus: I will be teaching a Twitter class tomorrow morning open to all members 👩🏽?🏫🐣

to counter the ridiculous rump and GOP train wreck are WONDERFUL and interject a spirit of defiance that I'm glad to see, and it's being led by women, the gender that rump despises (he despises intelligent women apparently).

I loved AOC's 'where's MITCH?' campaign the other day, and this is what we need, in order to counter the ridiculously stale and out of date talking points that the GOP uses for supporting their idiotic positions. Just wait for their objections in raising the minimum wage as Bernie S. has proposed. They'll use the stupid argument that business will be seriously hurt, blah, blah, blah. Old arguments used fruitlessly in the past and shouldn't be used now.

We need to get them (repugs) on the run, and show them up on how ridiculous they have been in a lot of their positions and continued support of this truly idiotic president. They had two years to put up a wall that is so important to them (ignorant and stupid) and instead, they chose to cut taxes for their donors instead.

How smart are all of these guys (the white older repugs in the senate and house) when they can't even pass a law mandating a wall when they had 'it' all? It seriously makes one think 'what the hell were you all doing before?'. Not governing that's for sure, and consequently they all need to be thrown out of office.
