Peggy Noonan, and former Representative Carlos Curbelo are riffing on this on Morning Joe.
Our base is threatening to primary our incumbents and buffaloing them? How about backing that fallacy of the.golden mean with some facts?
I hate "both sides do it." It's a lie. It's a lame attempt at manipulation. It's insulting because it's so stupid.

(4,483 posts)1. I've seen the "democrat base" referred to
by republicans, too, and I don't know what the hell they're talking about. We have a "base?" What's our base? People who are registered Democrats?

(5,803 posts)2. Not the base. The Justice Democrats and the like.
The Justice Democrats entire website and platform is all about ousting incumbents they dont like.
Those groups have maybe half a million supporters combined in a party of 40 million.
So whom are they buffaloing with primaries?

(5,803 posts)4. Apparently it's not about issues.
You can tacitly support Medicare for All and a Green New Deal and we still might primary you because theres energy in the district to find someone more charismatic and compelling who is actually going to be a movement builder, said Waleed Shahid, communications director for Justice Democrats.
I know they are going after Henry Cuellar and Kathleen Rice. I'm not torn up about Cuellar, but Rice is progressive and votes against Trump and against fossil fuel. It's been pointed out that the majority of people they would list agree with them on over 90% of issues.

The price of purity and vanity is very high. That's a luxury our nation cannot afford. The Sarandonesque and Uygurian philosophy of "destroy to rebuild in our image" is toxic and myopic. Groups like "Justice Democrats" and "Brand New Congress" cannot be trusted, and I question the motives and intentions of anyone who's ever been associated with them.
