(6,551 posts)Where was he when the Senate voted on the Russian sanctions bill? Why not vote on the bill?

(26,330 posts)Can you imagine if he missed that meeting? Ohhoo boy!
Now is when everyone pretends these votes arent counted going in and someone can be called to jump in - if necessary and it will make the vote.
But do go on...

(17,390 posts)Bernie Sanders is not even in the House, yet he is claiming credit for leading House Democrats. If it wasn't for him Nancy Pelosi and AOC would not have a clue?

Congressional Black Caucus Announces 1,300-Page Bill Calling For Free Tuition At Community College And $15 Minimum Wage
Almost every member of the CBC worked on the bill.
According to NOLA, the bill calls for a $15 minimum wage, two years of free community college, funding to remove lead-contaminated water pipes, abolition of the death penalty and the removal of marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act.
The bill includes legislation from almost all 48 members of the CBC and The National Urban Leagues Main Street Marshall Plan. National Urban League CEO and President Marc Morial admitted the bill is up against a hostile administration, but he believes accountability is key to ensuring it gets through Congress.
"We know that many will say that this bill will not see the light of day," said Morial. "But I can guarantee you that the Urban League ... will call the question to each and every one who struts into our community, dances into our community, walks into our community asking for our vote: 'Where do you stand on the Jobs and Justice bill?' I want your name on the dotted line if you want me to pull the lever for you.''

Nationally prominent Democrats lent their voices to the cause of raising the minimum wage in Missouri on Saturday, February 10, when Democratic National Committee Deputy Chairman Keith Ellison and U.S. Rep. Wm. Lacy Clay came to Ferguson to speak up for racial and economic justice.
Ellison, who represents Minnesotas 5th Congressional District and the first Muslim elected to the U.S. Congress, said raising the minimum wage is a moral issue.
This Raise the Wage fight is not just about money, its about dignity, Ellison said at Wellspring Church in Ferguson.
Both Ellison and Clay serve in both the Congressional Black Caucus and Progressive Caucus, and both have supported federal legislation to raise the minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 per hour.

And this is nothing new for the CBC - they've been fighting this battle for decades:
General Subcommittee on Labor,
Washington, D.C.
DEAR MR. CHAIRMAN:
As Members of the Black Caucus, we are deeply concerned about the need to mount a successful campaign to secure passage of the Minimum Wage bill this year. During this time of skyrocketing inflation, the raising of the Minimum Wage and especially the extension of coverage, are important to all Americans, particularly minority citizens because they are more likely to be employed in jobs which are not currently covered. Groups such as the Household Workers, desperately need the protection which this bill would provide.
For this reason we are deeply disturbed about the rumors that some groups are suggesting that the extension of Minimum Wage to domestics should be dropped from the House Version of the bill in an effort to secure the necessary votes for passage here in the House. In our view, this would do very little in the way of securing additional votes. Indeed, the most controversial sections of the bill last year were not those concerning domestics but those centering around agricultural workers and the proposed youth sub-minimum.
...
Very truly yours,

So, PLEASE spare us the "Bernie's leading the way" revisionist history. This is not only a lie, it is deeply insulting to those who actually DID lead and are continuing to lead on this issue.
