Does anyone even read posts here anymore?

Been noticing it more and more... more and more new posts keep appearing and keep getting pushed down the page. So many of them have only a few replies because they don't stick around long enough to get read.

And then there are the duplicate posts: the same subject matter, on the same page, covered in posts by different people.

Are we just that much into writing, or are we being hacked?

And over the course of the first hour, 10 different "BREAKING NEWS" threads are created with the same link from the same source from different posters who didn't bother to look to see if someone had already posted it.

If I dupe a post, I self-delete (I may not always see them, though, if the person is on ignore).

It has gotten worse, imo.

When I'm making a breaking news thread, before I press post, I open a new tab and look at DU real quick to make sure there's nothing up yet so I'm not posting a duplicate thread.

Anyway, regarding dupe threads, the search engine at DU seems to miss a lot. On many occasions, I've started a thread in LBN, only to have it locked as a dupe. Yes, I did search before posting, but the search failed to find the earlier thread.

Which I think show up on the full website version of the site.

The daily news related to trump and the damage he's inflicting on the country is overwhelming. Some topics are too painful to even contemplate at times; other topics slip through the cracks because we're so focused on trump.

I read almost every post on the greatest page and then check out Latest and read all "interesting" posts, but no dupes. I skip posts that cover something I've already read about or that seem uninteresting, or that asks questions that I don't know the answer to, like technical or deep legal issues. I probably read at least 80% of the threads on the first page of Latest as well. It seems like we have more people asking questions and posting dupes than ever before. Last night one person posted their post 4x, lol.

There's always something new, especially with the current WH resident. I think that's what contributes to more posts, and older posts getting pushed off the front page.

I always try to check to see if the topic is already posted before I start a new post. One problem that I've seen is that the OP title doesn't always describe the content of the post.

Your post has encouraged me to stop and read more posts instead of just scrolling through like I do on Twitter.
