https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2019/01/16/areva-martin-cnn-analyst-accuses-black-radio-host-white-privilege/2590841002/The segment aired Tuesday during a SiriusXM show hosted by David Webb, who is also a contributor at Fox News. His guest during the segment was Areva Martin, a civil rights attorney and CNN legal analyst.
According to a clip posted to Twitter, Webb details his rise in the media, saying he always saw his qualifications as a more important issue than his color.
"Well, David, thats a whole 'nother long conversation about white privilege, the things that you have the privilege of doing that people of color dont have the privilege of," said Martin.
When Webb asks how he benefits, Martin said it's "by virtue of being a white male."

Do you want to remain a POC or do you want to continue to receive ALL the virtues of being a white male???
The choice is yours!

It could have been stated in terms of white supremacy. As in, Clarence Thomas' success has everything to do with attaching to and enabling white male supremacy.
I don't know enough about him to know if that is the case with Webb, but if she can't make that argument, she clearly does not understand racism.

(3,191 posts)Fragmented sentence. To be a sentence, groups of words need to have at least one independent clause. An independent clause is any group of words that contain a subject and a verb and can stand on its own. So exactly what are you saying in this non sentence?

(5,325 posts)That's taking 'grammar police' to the extreme.
And, by the way, "it" is the subject and "is" is the verb. In other words, it is a valid sentence.

(3,191 posts)"It's also interesting how people can, and will, use that." What is that? Bombs in Syria? Baby abduction in Fresno? So you missed the independent clause part of the equation.

(73,631 posts)Black cons are never about overall black empowerment, they're about monetizing white supremacy with a black face for personal gain.
Technically, Areva Martin wasn't wrong about Webb.
His blackness seems to be an inconvenience for him, because he clearly would rather be white.
