Poll: Should Democrats allow our country to be extorted so the wall can be built?

Shouldn't the people give the hostage-taker what he wants?

I don't claim to immediately know how, but in the end game, we'll probably have to find a way to compromise with the GOP senate. Not sure what that is but it will need to be done. And I'm sure whatever it is, it will be some democrats ox that gets gored.

But I can see us being forced to depending on who more skillfully plays the public opinion game.

If democrats give him his way, the check is over before it began, and everything that we accomplished in the midterms will be for nothing.

Financially the shutdown has cost more than the wall would have. Craft the funding authorization to require full environmental assessments and nothing significant gets built before we take over. Trump is toast no matter what happens with his freaking wall, so I wonder if short term damage mitigation is worth while given that Trump and his party are toast in two years. Then again giving him what he wants is dangerous too as others pointed out. Trump's only talent seems to be in creating lose / lose situations for the American people
