Clemson quarterback dismisses fake quote about White House visit

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence on Tuesday dismissed a post circulating on social media incorrectly quoting him saying that the team's fast food dinner at the White House was "the best meal we ever had" before blasting "the coastal elite media."

Lawrence said on Twitter that he "never said this" but called the trip to the White House "awesome."

"I never said this by the way... I don’t know where it came from," he tweeted. "However the trip to the White House was awesome!"

The Clemson football team on Monday night visited the White House, where the team was served an assortment of fast food from McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King and Domino's Pizza.

The original post quoted Lawrence praising the meal and criticizing the "coastal elite media."

“President Trump got all our favorite foods. It was the best meal we ever had. Then we go and see the coastal elite media trashing it for not being organic vegan. We’re football players, not bloggers. This was a perfect blue collar party," the quote read.

Ross Taylor, a spokesman for Clemson football, told the Associated Press that the entire quote was "fabricated."

Unless you're reading something I'm not seeing in the OP.

That's not the same as saying 'Meeting Trump was Awesome' ... just sayin'.

That 'fake' quote sounds SO MUCH like something KAC or SHS would've come up with (or Hannity), like TOO much like that ... it's too perfectly 'Faux' ... for this 19 y.o. jock to come up with, IMHO.

After the game I saw two interviews with this cat, one was by a black lady reporter and she kept asking question after question that were OBVIOUSLY trying to lead him into saying something 'religion-oriented', either about 'God', or at minimum 'Family' ... it was almost the same question like 3 times in a row, getting more and more obvious ... the last question was like 'So when a MIRACLE like tonight happens Trevor, Who is it that you THANK the MOST?' (not that bad but practically) ... and he was just not even picking up on it.

I noticed it because earlier the announcers were making about big deal about his specifically choosing Clemson because of it being such a 'faith-friendly' program ...

Second one, also no mention of God, Jesus, Family, nada. Might've said 'blessed' in one of the two but it was a very casual used of the word.

I ain't buying his schtick. He'd have thought of His Jeebus in a moment like that ...

Haven't seen anything else

I don't know too many college head coaches that are wingers ... be hard to coach a football team

... I read was one about a single player who he said he wouldn't discipline.

Yeah, he's a winger ... don't know if I could play for a Trump supporter if I was in college.

Matter of fact, I ... KNOW ... I couldn't and would've quit that program and gone to another team loudly.

The ultra-rapid invitation, during the government shutdown, with Trump's "I'm paying for dinner" stunt... C'mon, you owe these student athletes better than putting them in the middle of this garbage.
