JB Pritzker was sworn in as governor of IL yesterday:
Gov. J.B. Pritzker used his first full day in office to restore frozen wage increases for unionized state employees
Pritzker announced that union employees would begin getting seniority-based step increases in pay. Those contractually required increases were frozen by former Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner four years ago during still-unresolved contract negotiations.
Pritzker did not say how much the extra pay would cost. It is not retroactive.
The governor also signed executive orders to prohibit state agencies from asking prospective employees their salary histories. Advocates believe its discriminatory toward women who enter and leave the workforce more often. Pritzker likely will sign a law on the issue this spring. Rauner vetoed it twice.

The other thing that's coming down the road for us here in Illinois, legalized recreational weed. Yup, dem legislature and dem governor.
We are deeply in debt. I'm not sure how they are going to figure that one out.
Pritzker also did something kinda weird. He's a billionaire and he decided to double the pay of some of his personal staff. But, he's not using state money. He is using his own money. I have mixed feelings about that.
more info on that here:

I just don't think anyone should have as much money as he does.

I live here too, in red McHenry county. We did manage to get rid of Peter Roskam in IL-6. And I am thrilled about Lauren Underwood giving Randy Hultgren (IL-14) his walking papers.

They can't stand it that he's going to legalize pot, even though it's been a secret cash crop down here. I just shake my head and smile.
