NBC News calls for a timid, cowering, apologetic stance on Steve King-style racism.

NBC News standards sent guidance to staffers telling them not to call Steve King's comments racist but instead that reporters should say, "‘what many are calling racist’ or something like that." http://bit.ly/2Hf33U1

How can they possibly know what's in Steve King's shrivelled little heart, unless they to a quick, short review of his other public comments?

He doesn't call himself a racist.
He hasn't been proved a racist in court.

They don't want to slander.

The RWNM, they'll slander, but not NBC. They have Ethics. They hire real journalists, like Megyn Kelly.

Racist is an opinion or value judgement. “What many are calling racist” is factual and more appropriate for factual journalism.

Fool the deplorables into thinking your middle of the road so they"ll watch your network and you can rake in the ad dollars.

UPDATE: 2:15 p.m. ― Shortly after this story was initially published Tuesday, NBC News advised its staffers it was, in fact, fair to describe Rep. Steve King’s remarks on white supremacy as “racist.”

“We revised our guidance on Rep. Steve King’s comments,” reads an email from NBC News’ standards department that was shared with HuffPost. “It is fair to characterize King’s comments as ‘racist,’ and point out that he has a history of racist comments, and the context can be shared that others hold that view as well.”
