My recollection of her was that up to about 2015 or so, she would plaster DU with loads of material from Russian state media and other sketchy sources (Paul Craig Roberts was a favorite) about topics like Ukraine and Syria where there was heavy Russian involvement. She wasn't shy about praising Putin on here, and played heavily along the pro-Snowden, pro-Greenwald, pro-Assange narratives as well.
She had quite the following here, and we would frequently be graced with "Catherina Appreciation Threads" about how great a contributor to DU that Catherina was.
Meanwhile, she had a Twitter account (@Catherina_News) where she would routinely gloat about how stupid American liberals were, referred to President Obama as the Antichrist (or thereabouts) and would post extremely creepy adoration pictures of Vladimir Putin. Her profile picture was actually the symbol for Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine combined with the old Soviet hammer and sickle.
For whatever reason, she went dark on Twitter around 2014. She continued to post at DU up until November 2015 before suffering a major flame out.
So, does anyone know what her deal was?
Was she just a rather gullible individual who was sold the "All westerners are war mongering imperialists and the devil, so says Russian Media" and ran with it to the extreme?
Or was she something more nefarious than that?
I'd love to know if anyone had any insight into her.

The first rule of Dunning-Kruger club is that you don't know you're in Dunning-Kruger club. Seemed to fit her.

(22,050 posts)I seem to remember that they sold it or divested of it several months ago.
It's worth five minutes to take a look at it. Simply, it's a mess.

(102,378 posts)we were ALL WRONG (unless we adopted/regurgitated her viewpoints in total).
Interesting though...She seemed to have a lot of issues with quite a few DUers up to and including when she left.

(6,377 posts)And her old profile says she was removed due to not agreeing to the terms of service. Almost everyone who replied in her "goodbye" thread have been banned from what I've seen in the thread, was Hillary bashing.
Some of which had massive post counts.

(102,378 posts)I'm not on twitter, though I do google some of the more prominent posters from time to time. I've long wondered how people identify each other unless they use (and know) their REAL names?

(38,687 posts)She was a sock puppet. Not a real person. I saw the PM Tinoire (longtime DUer behind the Stalin loving Bell Forum) sent to another DUer detailing this.

(48,955 posts)I do recall Tinoire - from way back - maybe pre invasion of Iraq, or early invasion. She struck me as militant and naive/gullible (in response to the first question.)

(38,687 posts)Yep. My last interaction with her she called me a 'traitor.' LOL To what or whom I have no idea.
