And others?
They've been shown (by trump?) what Putin has on them?
Youve got to know Putin's been compiling kompromat for years...
Is this a big duuuuh?

(602 posts)It would seem that Trump delivered the bad news to Graham during a round of golf, that's his BC/AD demarcation line.
Hostile going in, pandering sycophant walking out.

(23,158 posts)drumpf meets privately with Graham at a golf course, lays the blacksmail on him, and voila, he's a changed man and now loves him some orange boy and is standing by him, regardless of how much treason is involved.

(58,785 posts)How likely is it that Putin would work hard to get Trump in office without using the same tactics to build a cooperative support structure in the Republican Party and elsewhere in government? That would be needed both to keep election from being blocked and to keep him office long enough to do real harm?

(14,971 posts)He's up for re-election in 2020 and according to SCGOP operatives , his poll numbers were in the crapper. After he started genuflecting to Trump , his poll numbers soared. SC Republicans are still staunch Trump supporters. The other reason put forward by Rick Wilson makes sense, too. Graham is an uber neocon, foreign policy is his thing. He needed to get close to Trump so that he could influence him and counteract Rand Paul. The only way to get close to Trump is to praise him and kiss his hem. Russians may have something on Graham. Don't know. But Russian influence isn't the reason behind everything and some Democrats on Twitter are starting to sound like the liberal version of QAnon with the conspiracy theories.
And for the Democratic operatives pushing the Russians are blackmailing Graham because he's gay theory, I have Dem friends active in SC politics. There is absolutely no factual evidence to back this up. There never has been.

(14,971 posts)I'm no fan of Graham but have noticed he's voted every time to impose sanctions on Russians. The backbone of this whole Russian influence theory is that he's being blackmailed because he's gay. Absolutely no factual evidence to support this claim has ever surfaced in all Lindsay's years in office .Lindsay's actions are reprehensible but running to "It's the Russians" to explain every time a politician does or says something to support Trump, ignores the local conditions that may also be influencing this behavior.
That being said the Republicans do have a Russia problem in their party. I just haven't seen enough evidence yet that it applies in this case.

(108,995 posts)because he was one of the few who used an old RNC server.
So it is likely that they are blackmailing him with some of his emails, whatever they hold.
Or else why didn't they hack them, only not to release them?

(13,926 posts)Legislators have to stump for money to get reelected.. If the russians give them a pile of cash they don't have to work so hard... Buy they have to pay the piper. When the piper says dance, you dance...
My take..
