Woman who posted about Trump slams door on Secret Service agent
January 14, 2019
After reportedly posting online about hoping someone would shoot President Trump between the eyes, a woman in Texas was shocked to see a Secret Service agent at her door only a few hours later. According to her, he attempted to intimidate her and enter her home but stopped when her nephew started recording. After stating that she wanted a lawyer, the woman got the agents phone number and then slammed the door shut without waiting for him to leave.

(62,444 posts)She asked him if she committed s crime and if it was mandatory for her to speak with him.
The answers are no and no.
I dont see how it helps the goal of law enforcement to be as evasive as he was.

(14,861 posts)and have to let them in if they ask, and have to let them search their cars, etc. That's why they won't just say "no" when they're asked those questions.

SLAM!
But they will be back and it will get ugly. My guess is that they have already interviewed Rump about his threat to shoot Hillary.

(14,249 posts)Her post was out of line and could be seen as a threat. Not cool.
It needed to be checked out - they're doing their jobs.
I havent watched the video so I dont know whether his behavior was uncalled for, but checking out a statement like that seems appropriate. We felt that way here when President Obamas was in office, as I recall.

(62,444 posts)She doesnt intend to kill anyone, and doesnt need to spend her time talking to them.
Sure, they can ring the bell and ask to talk, but that doesnt obligate her to engage them in conversation.
Objectively, the statement in question is not a threat. Its not even a statement of intent of any sort.
I dont advise people to engage in these voluntary interviews with law enforcement. If there is no probable cause, there is no probable cause. The point of the interview is to attempt to find some.

(46,758 posts)The first, that every threat on the president or a judge is investigated. That's routine.
The second, is how they go about doing that investigation.
I agree with the first action, and still waiting for details to judge the second.

(14,249 posts)But the agents weren't out of line as some here suggest for trying to interview her.

(8,389 posts)Having said that, anyone threatening the President of the United States need not be surprised that the Secret Service might pay you a visit.

(63,922 posts)think what you may privately but do not publicize. How many cult45 followers say uncouth things about our Democratic leaders.
They send them pipe bombs and shit, plus we don't have guns.

(90,827 posts)That goes from Day One. All of us detested BushCheney -- some with the heat of a thousand suns. Red Don is worse and even more dangerous.
Regardless, there is a line that should not be crossed on a public discussion board, both for decency's sake and because we'd like to keep from being shut down.
Not kidding here, Agent Mike.
Agents Boris & Natasha, otoh, can go to hell.
