Trump on Monday rejected a proposal from a top legislative ally to reopen the government, even as a raft of polling suggested he is losing the battle for public opinion with Democrats over his demand for a border wall.
Trumps dismissal of the plan to end the partial shutdown offered by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) signals the White House believes it can pressure Democrats into a compromise. But Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), buoyed by the polls, has shown no sign of budging.
Democrats introduced two more resolutions on Monday to reopen the government, doubling down on their strategy of moving measures to end the shutdown without paying for a wall on the Mexican border.
Graham had floated the idea of ending the government shutdown for three weeks to pursue a broader immigration deal. But Trump said he turned down the offer, which resembles a Democratic proposal to reopen government in order to restart border security talks.
Im not interested. I want to get it solved. I dont want to just delay it. I want to get it solved, Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday morning.

so unfortunate that people just don't pay attention and in this case he said this that he owned this.
The people who voted for him are going to pay big time for their ignorance.

(35,378 posts)guy 19 years old that was elected to the state legislature. I guess the state has a surplus this year and this kid made a motion
to give Trump $10 million for his wall. Of course they didn't go for it since it was their money.

(12,406 posts)One of the nicest people youd ever want to know. Kind and helpful and generous. When Obama was running for president the first time, he came into my office (we ran a timeshare in Florida), saw a picture I had of Obama next to my desk, and said to me, If I ever came face-to-face with him, I could pick up a gun, shoot him in the head, and never think another thought about it.
I learned very quickly that day not to judge books by their cover. He had a very nice cover, but the pages inside were crawling with ugly things.
I wondered at the time in what kind of place one would have to live, in order to have that mindset.
