House seems slow with hearings

And more reactive than necessary.

Okay, Cohen testifies in a few weeks. And some docunrnts gave been requested

Now the House is exploring issuing subpoenas to the translators, undoubtedly in response to the news stories. Even without these stories, these translators should have been at the top of the list.

IMHO, they should be scheduling hearings and issuing subpoenas daily. And show no mercy.

Re Mnuchin: His testimony was a waste of time per Pelosi. Don’t mince words. And don’t threaten. His testimony was bullshit, so tell him that the House will not approve the lifting of sanctions. End of discussion. Maybe next time he’ll be forthcoming.

Yes, I know, the wall and the shutdown are front and center. And I think the Dems are doing extremely well. But remember trumps mastery at distractions. This regime needs to know that the House, at least, won’t be distracted.

In fact, with AOC and other dynamic new representatives out there, they can distract while the committees issue subpoenas and schedule hearings.

And, no, this is not to say that this is their only role. They are hitting hard on all fronts, which is great, but the House can use these jabs to continue attacking and investigating.

That means having their house in order and ready.

It's difficult to be patient, but their time is coming.

They had to organize the House, determine the rules, determine the committee memberships, etc. They've already passed several bills as well.

We have waited a long time for these hearings. The Democratic Leadership
is laying the groundwork for the most effective approach and they currently have
their focus on reopening the government.

...selecting which Dems to primary in 2020. They are wasting no time.

I just hope we still have a Dem majority in 2021. Maybe one in the Senate would help, too, along with a presidency.

And they've just been there for a couple of weeks with a shutdown complicating things.

The first order of business was voting on rules then passing bills on to the Senate to re-open the goverment. Rep. Cummings has already schedule Cohen to testify before his committee.

Rep. Jerry Nadler is trying to find out if he can subpoena trump's interpretor during his meetings with Putin.

Let's not pull the crap many did in 2010 when they deserted Pres. Obama because he did move on their pet issues fast enough while he was saving the country from the Great Recession.

There's more to having hearings than just banging the gavel and asking questions.

And is not designed for entertainment.

Setting up hearings, scheduling witness etc takes time.

We are 2 weeks in and already people on DU are criticizing Democrats. I’m shocked, shocked...
