From PBS in 2009:

NOW travels to Texas to meet border families who fear losing their property, their safety, and their way of life. Many question if the U.S.-Mexico border fence can keep people from sneaking in at all. An even greater worry may be the virtual fence the Obama administration is planning for the remaining 1,300 miles of border, at an estimated cost of nearly $7 billion.

We should be truthful about this. NOW is a liberal tv show that went after the Obama administration for a policy that wasn't good.I remember this episode and a google search found it if you want to watch it at the link.

We should be honest about what President Obama got wrong. Yes, he wouldn't have shut the government down for his wall. But, he approved the policy.

While the Democrats had slight majorities in both houses, the bill got more support from the Republicans. It passed in the Senate with 80 votes. Opposition was almost exclusively Democratic.

The GOP has voted countless times to get rid of Obamacare, but never with a supermajority. Even if Obama had tried to overturn the Secure Fence Act, there would not have been over 60 votes in the Senate required, so why bother? I would think he could have done something about fairly compensating landowners whose property was seized though. That's on him.
