Trump Doesn't Deny He's a Russian Agent When Asked By Fox News' Jeanine Pirro

On Saturday, President Donald Trump called into Jeanine Pirro‘s Fox News show.

During that interview, host Jeanine Pirro asked Trump about a New York Times report that claimed that the FBI opened an investigation — after the firing of James Comey — to probe if Trump was an acting agent of Russia.

“I’m going to ask you, are you now or have you ever worked for Russia, Mr. President?” Pirro asked.

Trump did not exactly deny it although he was very clear he found the Times report insulting.

In response to Pirro, Trump said this: “I think it’s the most insulting thing I’ve ever been asked. I think it’s the most insulting article I’ve ever had written. And if you read the article, you’d see that they found absolutely nothing. But the headline of that article, it’s called ‘The failing New York Times’ for a reason, they’ve gotten me wrong for three years. They’ve actually gotten me wrong for many years before that.”

I am not sure that you can read too much into this - he lies about everything so if he had denied it we would just have assumed he was lying.

2. That's basically an "I'm not going to dignify that with an answer" response.

Which a lot of people do, and on many occasions is a valid response. So I agree, you can't really read too much into it.

5. I'd call it a non-denial denial.

Nixon and his minions liked those too.

The "judge"s face exhibited some consternation; I don't think that answer was what she hoped for ( although to be fair she could have been reacting to the word salad that followed).

A simple "no" would have sufficed.

Why would he suddenly care about avoiding lying? It's not like he's under oath. (And supposedly his lawyers aren't sure he could stop himself from lying even then.)

From a local Republican. They really don't care.

6. I disagree. They care deeply. But the thing they care about is that we are all horrified by him.

This really is true. There are no policy concerns in the mind of the trump humper. There are only two things:

1) "Liberal people's refusal to acknowledge that I am entitled to special treatment is a huge insult to me. It means I have to make it in the world on my own slim merits, and I am unable to do that. It is the fault of liberal people that I am not as successful as I think I should be."

2) "I love when trump upsets liberal people, because liberal people have done me wrong. He really upsets them, so anything he does is OK by me."

(However, I do concede that there is a group who doesn't even think this deeply about it. Their motivation is, "My husband voted for him, so I did too." )

I wonder how much that drives them, and if that helps to override the doubts that MUST creep into even the most dimwitted brain.

10. I think it is the key to all of them. This administration hands us many, many horrifying things.

Some we pick up and angst about, but there are so many that some just pass by unnoticed.

The things the trump base cheers are always those things that catch our notice and that upset us most. There is no policy consistency, there is no thought. Only, "How much does it bother liberals."

My trumper cousin has a personal motto that I find infantile and obnoxious. It is: "If it bothers you, I'll do it." I think that is the trump base anthem.

When you get feedback (condemning the traitor from left and right), reveal that the official is tRump.

Deep deep down it's human nature, once someone makes a decision or takes an action they're going to dig in and defend that position no matter what. As the old saying goes.... it's easier to fool a person than to convince them they've been fooled.

can't believe a word that escapes his piehole mouth and peanut brain. This comes after Treasury announced an attempt to give a Russian oligarch a sweetheart deal by lifting sanctions.

You called it "The Failing New York Times" Donald. If anyone else is saying that, it is because they heard it from you.

Trump puts outrageous claims out there and then says, "People tell me........" or "They are saying.........". Reminds me of Cheney planting a story in The New York Times and then quoting The New York Times to bolstered his claims.
