Newt Gingrich admits that the FBI is investigating Trump for what amounts to treason.

He thinks that's preposterous, of course. But I think Newt is onto something. Smells like treason to me, too.

The extraordinary story published Friday night in The New York Times headlined “F.B.I. Opened Inquiry into Whether Trump was Secretly Working on Behalf of Russia” tells us how deeply sick the Washington establishment has become.

A group of bureaucrats – elected by no one – sat in a room and decided they would investigate the new president of the United States for possible treason. Let me repeat: treason. This is, after all, the implication of this investigation.

If the cops come after me for something, do I get to accuse them of being "a group of bureaucrats – elected by no one"? If the FBI goes after a House member for accepting bribes, is "they are a group of bureaucrats – elected by no one" an effective legal argument? Are we to have no law enforcement except by those who are directly elected? Or is he saying that our elected politicians are above the law and immune from prosecution? Of course both of those positions are absurd. And if other elected officials are not immune from prosecition, why should the president be?

Newt is a shill, a tool, spouting nonsense and oozing bullshit from his sorry adulterous mouth.

But apparently, according to Gingrich, if the president is committing treason, he should not be investigated by anyone.
