Holding our net losses to two seats was an amazing accomplishment. If trump had not been POTUS, the it is likely that the Democrats could have lost 6 to 10 senate seats instead of only two

22 Repubs defending their seats. I'm hopeful we can flip 5 or 6 of them.

Read it and heed it.

If you read through Trump's remarks about the 2018 election (yeah, I know, it's painful), he likes to crow about how the Republicans picked up two seats in the Senate. He doesn't mention losing 40 seats in the House for some reason. In 2020, the Republicans will have to defend 22 seats, while the Democrats have 12 seats to defend. Yes, many of those Republican seats are in friendly Republican states, but after 2018, the old ways of slotting states may be on its way out. The Republicans will have to spend money even on the safe seats, while Democrats can recruit new candidates and new faces to challenge those aging Republican Senators.

Early signs indicate that the Democratic base continues to be motivated, and is actively recruiting more voters to its side. Republicans are stuck for as long as they have to keep defending the latest antics of Needy Amin. He's faced a whole week of actual opposition as of today, and he doesn't appear to be handling it very well. What's he going to look like in 22 months?
