I think he knows he will be put out of office before his term is up. This will thing is his idea of his mark on this country. He has the punk boy Hannity with him to do the softball interview for TV. When this guy crashes and burns I hope he takes Hannity, Limbaugh and Fox with him because they will have know way to deny that they were not in his pocket. The media has to destroy these people when they are down. I hope they have enough balls to step on their necks when they are down.

(my opinion - he will want to leave this country as divided as possible)

(4,178 posts)He'd rather have Dems to blame.
I also think that it won`t be Russian collusion that takes him down. I think it will be his involvement with the Russians and Deutsche bank and money between the three of them. Fox and Hannity and Limbaugh are aiding these people and must be destroyed along with Trump. We cannot miss this chance to them all down.

(11,740 posts)Trump doesn't have the insight or strength of character to know that he is done. He may feel it, and maybe, just maybe deep within his psyche when late at night and there is no sound to distract, he may have a fleeting thought that he has nowhere to go, but then his psychic defenses kick in and we get the tweet storm and he is up and running with denial, projection, and all of the other stupid things he does to outrun his problems.
Fox and the right wing media sphere are not really in Trump's pocket either. They are partners in the scam that is conservative ideology. People say that Trump is not really a conservative and they are partially right. He certainly isn't a fiscal conservative and until he started to spout off when he ran, he wasn't a social conservative either. He is a White Supremacist, which to a large extent is a conservative position since the country was founded in the idea of White Supremacy. The thing about right wing media and conservative philosophy in general is that their mantra is that "conservatism doesn't fail, people fail conservatism". That is a powerfully cohesive sentiment, but it also keeps them stuck in doing the same stupid crap they always do, even when they try to dress it up nicer. Right wing media will abandon Trump when he starts to bring them down with him. They will say that "he was not conservative". "He used to be a Democrat. He was friends with the Clinton's before."
I do hope that he does damage the right wing branding a great deal in his fall. I too hope he takes at least Hannity down with him. However, I have no confidence that the media will step on anyone's neck, especially since the mainstream media and cable media especially were complicit with Trump's ability to gain the presidency in the first place. Media thrives on conflict and drama and Trump has provided plenty. That doesn't mean that media will be loyal or kind to Trump at all. They will report his downfall with glee, that is, until the next story is ready for consumption. There are a great deal of good journalists out there trying to get the facts and "truth" out and being loyal to their journalistic integrity, but the media as a whole is a business and they serve to enrich their shareholders by putting out product that people will consume and pay advertisers to promote.
The only hope is that this fiasco stays in the mind of younger people long enough to inform them about the need to be educated and civic minded. Voters need to know how we got here and how to avoid it in the future.
