There Is NO National Emergency, President Trump!

Immigration has always been an issue, and always will be. A wall will not change that in any way. Lying about the problem also is a worthless effort. The statistics are known.

Declaring a National State of Emergency will solve no problems at all at our borders. Instead, it will further divide our nation over a problem that is of long standing and will continue to be. People want to migrate to the United States. Some are trying to escape intolerable conditions in their home country and seek asylum here. Others want to come to the United States to seek more options for themselves and their families.

Building a wall on our southern border will not change that. A wall will not stop people from arriving here. They will simply go around it, under it, or over it. Where there is a need, people will find a way to meet that need.

What will work is a sound, well-planned immigration policy that reflects our ideals. What is needed is to follow the spirit of the inscription on the Statue of Liberty. Everyone who is a citizen of the United States and is not a Native American is here because of immigration. We all come from immigrant stock, except for those who have Native American ancestors.

Get over yourself, Donald Trump. Your family is an immigrant family. Your wife is a first-generation immigrant. You are no better than the people trying to come here on a daily basis. We are a nation of immigrants. So, stop with this wall nonsense. Work with Congress to improve our immigration policies so we can welcome our new citizens properly.
