If the GOP blocks Mueller's report the Dems can have him testify

to Congress and tell them what the conclusions of the investigation are. Rep. Nadler (Judiciary Comm)just told this to Chris Hayes.

This is one option to get around the GOP blocking Mueller's conclusions from being released to the public and them.

That event would be like the Watergate hearings. I bet people would be watching that at work and in their cars.

Into the congressional records and there is nothing the GOP or the trump administration can do.

Indictments and convictions should be the primary result of the investigation in my opinion. Current DOJ policy is they can’t indict the president but I think that is ridiculous. The rule of law is more important than the risk of nuisance indictments and why should the president have more immunity than other elected officials?

Impeachment and removal are political acts. It’s up to the house and senate to decide if the president’s actions merit removal, but that doesn’t mean the president is immune from laws. If he is in jail that means he can’t do his job and probably should be removed.

I’ve read the DU controversy on whether the house should impeach without the possibility of conviction in the senate. My take is still noncommittal. It depends on what the report shows. There is a trade off between futility and moral cowardice.

That said, the report should be made public regardless except where that would impede prosecutions. There are likely corrupt actions that are not necessarily illegal that should be exposed.

Just my two cents. I agree with what Nadler said.

to whether or not a sitting POTUS can be indicted. Before the new Congress got sworn in they were saying you can't do it but that has changed I am happy to hear. I think they were waiting until they were officially in control of the House.

He is cornered since the Dems won the House. The wall/shutdown is a distraction as well as an attempt to solidify his cult/base. We can expect a lot more of it and at an extreme level (dangerous) until he is out of office and convicted.

Probably a third to a half of his base are the ones not getting paid. Most of the personnel in the three agencies I've worked in personally and the three branches of military and a few other agencies I know of, many are repugs and voted for him. They'll be having second thoughts come the end of the week if they aren't already.
