Don't kid yourself, these extreme rightwing nutjobs are very important to the GOP. They always shift the MSM "debate" slowly to the right by making less extreme rightwing positions seem more palatable.

(9,268 posts)Wasn't that long ago that "no exceptions for rape and incest" was considered beyond radical--as it should be!--now that's just common "pro-life" dogma.
Anyone who thinks that a woman should be forced to risk her life and health in order to give a rapist the gift of his very own child is beyond sick. Our side should be able to articulate this to counter the extreme woman-hating of Akin, Santorum, Palin, Ryan, etc.

I don't think this is going to go away. Akin and Ryan sponsored a House Bill that redefined rape.
This is not going to go well for R&R even if Akin withdraws.
