(24,411 posts)When I heard that Akin made these remarks, I wanted to vomit. Back when I heard the debate about "forcible rape" I wanted to vomit as well, and I remember posting on DU about how deplorable that situation was.
I didn't realize, until a few minutes ago--that is was none other than Paul Ryan who coined the term "forcible rape" and fought so hard to slip it into the Medicaid legislation.
Look what we have here. I'd call it an opportunity.
Ryan was forced to quietly abandon the "forcible rape" verbiage after public outrage and disgust. He never really was held to account. Now that Akin has made his insane rape/pregnancy assertions--it looks like the Ryan campaign is going to be forced to talk about "forcible rape."
Akin and Ryan worked together on their "forcible rape" project.
Wow, how unfortunate for the Ryan campaign. They're going to be talking about this for a long time. How terrific for the American people though, and for women especially. I want to hear that punk tell all of us what he meant by "forcible rape" and I'd also like to hear him explain the differences between rape and "forcible rape."
This isn't funny. This is a very serious subject. However, this is an opportunity to put the spotlight on what a sleaze Paul Ryan is and to call out his actions publicly. After all, he wanted to legislate this "forcible rape" language on all American women. We deserve an explanation, and my, my what a coincidence that Akin made his atrocious comments -- and that Ryan is connected to him -- because they joined forces to redefine rape in this country--and to suggest that not all rape is forced.
The Dems have just been given a gift.

(11,087 posts)Akin's an idiot. He clearly doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. Ryan isn't as clueless. He's actually the more malicious of the two.

(53,410 posts)when they're 'forcibly raped'? Someone please ask him that because women want to hear what he says. We want to hear him justify his beliefs. Will he say yes or will he say no? He came up with the term forcible rape so what was his criteria? How did he come to the conclusions he came to? Does he have any medical documentation to prove his statement?
Make him fucking answer the questions because he needs to be held accountable for what he says and for every word of legislation that he writes because it affects all women in this country.
