Kellyanne Conway Corrects Sarah Sanders' Border Terrorist Claim: 'Unfortunate Misstatement'

Kellyanne Conway said her colleague, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, made an “unfortunate misstatement” on illegal immigration at the border on Fox News.

Laura Ingraham asked Conway about those numbers on Fox News Tuesday night, asking if “not getting these basic facts right” hurts “the credibility of the White House.”

Conway held that Sanders “conflated” statistics about the illegal immigrants at the southern border. [Note: Sanders wasn’t the only one — DHS Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen made a similarly false claim, as did Vice President Mike Pence.]

Ingraham was charitable to the administration for repeatedly lying, instead opting to blast the media for “cherry picking” mistakes made by the administration.

“That was an unfortunate misstatement,” Conway said. “Everybody makes mistakes, all of us. The fact is — it’s corrected here.”

4. Nielsen doubled down on the lie

Kirstjen Nielsen didn’t just make a similar claim she doubled down on it.

The threat is real. The number of terror-watchlisted encountered at our Southern Border has increased over the last two years. The exact number is sensitive and details about these cases are extremely sensitive.

I said yesterday that the number is sensitive because it would be a lie. Nothing has actually been corrected. Expect more lies tonight.
