Pelosi gave Trump the 'middle finger' by only sending aides to meet with his negotiation team

During a panel discussion on Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and her new power as House Speaker again, a CNN panelist noted that the Democratic leader appears to be showing up Donald Trump whenever she can.

Addressing a budget negotiation meeting helmed by Vice President Mike Pence on Saturday, Politico political analyst Eliana Johnson:

“I’d add one point to the dynamic played out yesterday when Trump sent to negotiate over the shutdown was the vice president of the United States and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner,” she observed.
“Nancy Pelosi sent two aides and a former administration official.

This is a case study of the new dynamic where she basically gave him the middle finger.
I’m not sure the president picked up on that,” she added to laughter from the panel.

Speaker Pelosi is not going to show up every time Trump calls for a meeting.
She is not going to 'dance to his tune'.

If Pence becomes president, that doesn't mean Speaker Pelosi would become vice president. She is in line for the presidency, not the vice presidency. A hypothetical President Pence would be able to nominate a vice president who would have to be confirmed by both Houses of Congress.

Never negotiate with someone who cannot sign off on the deal. Trump was not there. Why should she meet with two Trump lackeys just to have him approve or disapprove on the negotiated terms by Pence and Kushner?

Showing up Trump is an unintended consequence, or put another way, "icing n the cake".

In government, Trump is too stupid to know what he doesn't know.

every time. Look at the DACA deal they had agreed upon then tRump does the opposite 24 hours later. Same thing with the wall. Even when he says it on camera he goes back on his word. He couldn't negotiate his way out of anything, ever. World's WORST negotiator/deal maker, unless it is with Putin of course. He sticks to that deal for over 2 years now.

Look at what happened today!
IQ45 throws our allies into a tizzie and we lose a Secretary of Defense because the dolt announces an immediate withdrawal from Syria: "We've defeated ISIS - it's time to leave."
Well, "Stash" Bolton holds a new conference today and announces a different plan - one agreed to by allies and military experts here in the USA.

So, who do you believe - and when - and for how long?

What a FUSTERCLUCK!

We never really could. Yes, all politicians lie but the GOP does it more often and in more harmful ways. This current admin lies more than all the previous GOP administrations combined. Of course Fux Ruse and their cult/fan base believes every single word, even when it is harmful to them. Some people are just dumber than dirt and/or are willingly ignorant. I have no pity for them when their stupidity harms many innocent people who do have a brain and can think for themselves.

The best way to deal with a narcissistic sociopath is to ignore them. Unfortunately she doesn't have that luxury.

This action was a good close second option. If he even gets the point. Unfortunately, he's as dense as osmium.
So he may not and will unlikely have any of his lackeys brave or honest enough to explain it to him.

If I believed in violence I'd say that a good old fashioned slap up side of the head would be more effective in getting his attention. Ignoring and belittling him as often as possible is a good start and clearly the more diplomatic approach.

Great job Madame Speaker!!!

I think AOC has the "dance" angle covered for all of us, she's so bold and brave.

IIRC, the negotiations were set up to be among the staffers of each Congressional leader (Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell, McCarthy) and the WH staff. I'm sure in Trump's view Pence and Kushner are "staff" as that's what everyone who is not named President Trump obviously is.
