3. "Harsh" is a relative term, I guess.

Rape is plenty harsh. Calling out legislators who won't help prevent the rape of our servicewomen, well, that scarcely seems harsh by comparison.

But it sure is necessary, just as you say. These senators might have given a little more thought to their vote if they'd foreseen being held to account like this.
