Ask for the engineering and construction drawings. Ask for the specifications,
site plans, bidding documents, construction schedules, list of approved bidders,
and restrictions on cost over-runs. They should ask for environmental impact
statements, plans to mitigate harm to wildlife and projected maintenance costs
for the wall. They should ask for the Pentagon's analysis of the wall's long term
effect on our security, economy and standing in the world.
Tell Trump that the American people would like to see all of this and then we can
talk about spending $5,600,000,000 on his vanity project, rather than just writing
a check and hoping for the best.

Granted, he won't respond with reasonable facts and
figures. He'll blow past the questions with more of his
stream of consciousness, self-aggrandizing bullshit.
But the question will be out there, and the lack of forethought
will be obvious.

(50,278 posts)If a bank would lend the Trump's money for a building would they do it sight unseen? Moot point, I guess, since no respectable bank will touch them. But it would be a good ploy for Nancy to use.

We just need to keep saying hell no, it's immoral, antiquated technology, a waste of money, the majority of the people don't want a wall mimicking East Germany's failed iron curtain.

from Talking Points Memo by John Judis about the salience of the
shutdown debate and it's costs, actual and political.

I don't agree that we should back down and give Trump some funding for
his wall. I think that demanding information about the proposed construction
changes the debate to how stupid and wasteful construction of the wall would be.
Don't fund the wall. Frame the debate in 2020 not about security, like Trump wants,
but about his malfeasance in demanding a worthless boondoggle.

(7,754 posts)Trumps in every aspect from start to finish. The Dems just have to start demanding to see who was contracted with and what are the terms. Can't believe no good reporters have brought this up.
