One good thing Trump has done is sensitize people to lying.

The media now routinely calls out Trump for "falsehoods and lies." That never happened before Trump. By lying so blatantly and so obviously (and by, in particular, calling the media fake), Trump freed the media from a taboo against exposing lying that was passing itself off as objectivity. Turns out that you can be objective and still make judgment calls about truth and lies.

Those who remember the 2012 election remember just how awful Romney and Ryan were. They lied at record levels. After Trump, it's hard to imagine Romney/Ryan levels of dishonesty not being called out. Trump did us that favor.

1. You've put into words something that I've been feeling lately.

The lies are just too blatant and frequent that the right seems to be
giving up trying to defend him any more. They say his lies don't matter
because of his "successes" and that his base doesn't care anyway. I feel
that the middle is getting sick of the absurdity of it all, recognizes that it
may not just be his rhetoric and blow hard palaver, but actually an inability
to know or tell the truth, and are starting to react to today's new lies.
