This is your daily reminder that Congress can re-open the government without Trump

but Republicans, led by Mitch McConnell, refuse to do their Constitutional duty and behave as a co-equal branch of government.

This shutdown belongs to Senate Republicans as much as it belongs to Trump. People with R Senators up in 2020 need to make noise about this being a reason they are unfit to serve NOW, not 18 months from now.

takes 2/3s of the house to override a presidential veto


IF we see the one, we are likely to see the other. At this moment no incentive yet for GOP to do anything. Give it a month or 6....

Of course, when the SNAP payments and tax refunds start to fail there may be constituent pressure.

Be it Russian money, or something else, or both, and he hasn't got the guts to do what is right for the country, he is only covering his own ass. The same goes for some of the other republicans in the Senate.
