Republicans don't really give a flying fuck about anything. Kinda hard to use hostages when the only hostages you can take are your own. Besides, you can't negotiate properly with terrorists.

Also, don't forget that Avenatti's ill conceived defamation lawsuit got his client Stormy Daniel's SLAPP'ed with $200k in legal fees. Not him, she is on the hook for it under California law.

Here’s what I meant. Scalia died. Obama nominates Garland, who is held up by McTurtle. Trump takes office, and nominates Gorsuch, who is confirmed. That’s the seat that was clearly stolen.
