Southern border "crisis/emergency" is Trump's WMD moment

The Congress and American people have a right to see the data on which Trump's premise of a crisis on the southern border is based.

Just because there is an impasse, does not make a crisis. Just because he has built prisons there, deployed the army, called Mexicans and immigrants rapists, caged children away from families, etc. does not constitute actual fact that therefore the situation must be a crisis.

Have we learned anything from the Iraq Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) debacle?

Trump is attempting to force his reality on America and we have the obligation to force him to make the argument with real data and to defend his views in real time and to call him out on it if it is based on untruths, in public. (For him , it is a test of will, of power to bend others to defend his wants/needs; for the rest of us, it is a test whether we defend our democracy by demanding truth and fact from our leaders).

Bush showed the photos of WMDs. Powell and Rice backed up the assertions and the Administration was given the go ahead by Congressional vote.

Trump is more dangerous. !f we just continue along rolling our eyes at the latest lunacy, we are losing our perspective because his irrationality is so entertaining.

Until and unless we demand to be convinced with incontrovertible proof (studies, real facts from the border states, facts on the number of immigrants, i.e. agreement by all sides on the foundational facts about the situation)...

...we are complicit in the LIE that is hurting our fellow Americans in the shut down, and the immigrants at the border.

So I believe we must ask "Where's the beef?" and demand the set of facts upon which his wall proposals are based, facts agreed to by both democrats and republicans. (e.g.Where is the administration's analysis showing that Mexico is paying for the wall, that terrorists use the border for entry, etc.?)

Most ominously, if we get to the point where Trump attempts to use Emergency Powers, that is the Five Alarm Constitutional Crisis because if a lie is sufficient to grant him all- power, there is no stopping any madman, not just our own home-grown madman.
