Speaker Pelosi on Black Lives Matter

"I support the recognition that black lives matter, for sure, and I have incorporated that in many of my statements. All lives matter... we really have to redress past grievances in terms of how we addressed the African-American community."

more of a Bernie Sanders type answer. They scanned the audience when that question was asked, and I thought I saw some disappointed looks there.

The rest of the interview was aces, though.

Curious to know what you mean by a "Bernie Sanders type answer".

but telling a room full of black people that the solution for BLM is to "raise all boats" and promote general poverty programs that help everybody will fall kind of flat.

Frankly, I don't blame black folks for not buying that. They've heard it all before, and when they hear an "all lives matter" response, they tune out.

One thing I will say, though, is that Ms Pelosi's answer doesn't matter that much, given the influx of racial- and gender-varied new House members will hopefully get some things done WRT our current ethnic and gender problems.

Not sure if that answers your question, but that's what I heard.

It does seem like some folks did have that reaction.

On the whole, though, it seems that her town hall was very well received.

she was responsive, intelligent, strong, and human.

She's a great lady and one of the best vote counters in Congress in decades.
